I Feel A Healing Coming On

Rev. Nicole Von Atzingen, Sr. Minister

I would be remiss to have you read any further without first, acknowledging the immense gratitude I hold for Rev. Dr. Juanita Gardner, who has been a tower of love, radiating her peace, poise, and power in all that she is. Because she felt the need for some music medicine, for a celebration and fun, so it goes that Rickie comes to Seal Beach. Thank you, Rev. Juanita.

Okay, here’s what I know about Rickie Byars, she is a conduit of musical medicine. I know it because her words have left me feeling, well… better!

Rickie has an inner ear attuned to the beckoning call of the collective unconscious and it’s longing for healing, recognition of its wholeness, of its beauty, of its truth. And by it, I mean us, the collective us.

I also believe that the Great Spirit a.k.a. the one universal Mind (one consciousness) (One Mind?) knows what it needs to heal itself up. And so, she, a musical medicine woman holds this paradox of feeling the push and pull of the soul alongside or hand in hand with knowing Truth as it is revealed to her.

She wields words together like an alchemist with their elixirs of life and philosopher’s stone. You might even say she is like the indigenous basket weavers. She weaves words together which create a container of healing power, energy, sound and in reciprocity to the one who has given such inspiration, she shares these beautiful baskets of woven words overflowing with more than enough for everyone. She has powerful medicine which, not only could transform, but to transmute and transfigure, to heal the soul and leave us ready to rise.

With songs such as “All fades into God,” “Let my soul surrender,” and “Sun is Rising on me” one cannot help but be lifted, filled and with our cup running over as it should be.

Pouring out and into the world. The beautiful lyrical medicine, that vibrational tone universal to all, it’s more than just music, it’s medicine.

Please don’t take my word for it just click on let my soul surrender and be taken where you will by the one and only Ricky Rouse the featured guitar soloist. The guitar riff alone leaves me speechless. (As an aside, my teen years filled with the sounds of Punk Rock and G-Funk, and that beat, that signature west coast beat. What joy washed over me when I saw Ricky and his guitar. And that’s just the beginning! I guarantee you; this song leaves you moved, changed, in awe, or like me it doesn’t leave you at all but becomes a part have your daily vitamins.

The next song, it really deserves the number one spot for me. This song has walked with me as my companion one life is well. When I’m navigating through the dark nights of my soul. It travels with me through dimensions, and to the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen and all the places in between it all fades into God.

If you’ve ever felt an immense weight of shame, guilt, if you’ve ever felt ashamed if you’ve ever had a hard time letting it go. Not having to rationalize reason or analyze not having to make sense of it but just letting it go then you might want to try a dose of this medicine.

ALL FADES INTO GOD LYRICS

IN MY PAINS, THERE INSIDE MY WEAKNESS, IS THE SEED OF SOMETHING GREATER IN ME, AND THE SHAME OF NOT CHOOSING HIGHER, OF ALL THE DISAPPOINTING MOMENTS, FADE INTO GOD, AND NO MISTAKES HAVE BEEN MADE IN GOD, ALL THE WAYS THAT WE SEEM TO FAIL IN GOD, ALL FADE, ALL FADE INTO GOD, NO CHOICE, PRISONER OF ANGUISH, IN A JAIL OF I’M SO LONELY, IN A JAIL OF ALL IS LOST…BUT THE STARS SHINNING TO REMIND US, A SEED WILL NEED THE DARKNESS TO CHANGE, INTO NEW LIFE, AND NO MISTAKES HAVE BEEN MADE IN GOD, ALL THE WAYS THAT WE SEEM TO FAIL IN GOD, ALL FADE, IT ALL FADE INTO GOD, IN GOD, IS THE GRAVITY THAT HOLDS IT TOGETHER, IN GOD, IS THE ORBIT IN WHICH I AM STANDING

Now, we’ve let our souls surrender and allowed that musical medicine to open us up to the greater yet to be. We recognize, no matter what we’ve done or been through, no matter how good or bad we judge life, no matter what containers or constraints we place on it, it all fades into God. There are no mistakes in God’s world, not in a world filled with infinite potential and limitless possibilities. There is only creating and creating.

In closing, I want to leave you with a gift. A daily reminder to turn towards the sun. Really!?You wouldn’t believe how many of us forget. We forget that all we have to do is turn around. Turn our face towards lifegiving, life sustaining and say yes.

And the sun will rise on me today,

and the sun will rise upon me today,

I am feeling better in every way,

as the sun is rising on me today.

I would love to hear what your experience of these songs may be. I look forward to going deeper with you all.

In Gratitude.
