Transcend Conditions
Rachel Rosen, Practitioner
“The Spirit now makes Itself known in my life , since the Spirit is Life and since my being is of the spirit. Truth rises to great heights in me. I now empty myself of all thoughts or ideas which would refute Its control of my affairs. The Spirit finds in me nothing to stay Its course. Life is perfectly expressed through me. I an the God-intended man and my every experience shows forth this fact about myself.”
Having just moved I was putting away – well, everything – and I came across a Science of Mind “Guide for Spiritual Living” commemorating our 80th anniversary back in 2007. This issue reprinted the July 1932 series of daily readings first written by Dr. Ernest Holmes. I would like to quote some passages from his introduction and an affirmation he wrote:
“It is our suggestion that you read these lessions seriously each morning, thus lifting your thought and bringing you right mental attitude that you may think only constructively through the day and thus be able to transcend any condition that may come to you.” (italics mine). “Indeed , it would be a good practice for one to spend a few moments each day silently reassuring himself that he does believe…have faith and…understand the power of his word through the law. In this way, he would heal himself of his unbelief and…be able to approach his work with a greater degree of faith.”
I offer one of his affirmations for great comfort:
“The Spirit now makes Itself known in my life , since the Spirit is Life and since my being is of the spirit. Truth rises to great heights in me. I now empty myself of all thoughts or ideas which would refute Its control of my affairs. The Spirit finds in me nothing to stay Its course. Life is perfectly expressed through me. I an the God-intended man and my every experience shows forth this fact about myself.”
I suggest saying this to yourself every morning for awhile , until the light of understanding shines forth in your whole being to illuminate a deeper understanding and bring about a sense of peace and calm centeredness. All affirmations serve to illuminate and deepen one’s connection to Spirit, and this one is very special to me.
Peace be with you,
Rachel Rosen
