Looking at Yourself as Hero or Heroine
Rev. Nicole Atzinggen
“The wise stand out because they see themselves as part of the Whole. They shine because they don’t want to impress. They achieve great things because they don’t look for recognition. Their wisdom is contained in what they are, not their opinions. They refuse to argue, so no-one argues with them.”
– Lao Tzu –
shing and pulling and moving us all together.
This month we will be going through a very important process in our journey as a community. We will be pledging our financial commitment to our spiritual center for the next year. What it boils down to is, we are not only a Philosophy, a Faith and a way of life but we are also a non-profit Spiritual Center. This means we can only fulfill our mission of Awakening Humanity to Its Spiritual Magnificence in so far as we give of our time, talent and treasure. Those who have become members of the SBCSL community have made a commitment to sharing in these ways, but even if you choose not to become a member you are still a part of a spiritual community which serves and supports you and needs your support in return.
Our journey in October is to the Wizard of Us, which also happens to be the name of our book of the month by Jean Huston. We are embarking our mythical journey of awakening, like Dorothy- in a state becoming, feeling the call for something more. Then encountering allies who each have false beliefs they must break through only to find what they were searching for was there all along. As we follow the yellow brick road this month, I invite us all to look for the resemblances within ourselves.
I look forward to glorious breakthroughs and more pledges than I could have possibly imagined. I love this community, and each one of you who make it possible to thrive.
In Love & Gratitude,
Rev. Nicole
