Dear Congregants,
At our August Town Hall meeting, people expressed a desire to be more involved in the collaboration process and to meet socially with the folks from Namasté and Vida Centers. As you may know, the Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life class was our first collaborative effort and was open to both Seal Beach CSL and Namasté CSL participants.
In October, we’re taking collaboration to a level where everyone can participate in this exciting new endeavor. Seal Beach and Namasté are joining forces to present “Adventures in Faith.” This event is an opportunity to meet in small groups of 5-10 people in congregant homes or on Zoom to discuss a book titled “Stained Glass Spirit” by Tracy Brown. Three Practitioners from Seal Beach and three from Namasté have developed the curriculum. Each discussion group will be facilitated by a practitioner from Seal Beach CSL and one from Namasté CSL.
As of Sept 26, over 40 people have signed up with another week to register!
To kick off the Adventures in Faith program, the folks from Namasté will join us at our 10am Sunday service on October 9th, where Rev Bobbi Becker will be the speaker and musicians from both facilities will perform together!
The end of the AIF event will be celebrated on November 6th at the 4:30pm Sunday service at Namasté. Tracy Brown, the author of “Stained Glass Spirit,” will be the featured speaker that day. A festive celebratory dinner party will follow.
The joint services and dinner party are great opportunities to experience collaboration in person and get to know other SCL community members. There is no fee to participate in Adventures in Faith, and I hope everyone will participate. The potluck dinner party at Namasté in Long Beach on November 6th is open to everyone from Seal Beach CSL and Namasté.
As you may know, we tithe to a local charity each month. In October, our tithe goes to the Los Alamitos Food Finders. Their Food Rescue Program works by linking donated food from hundreds of local grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, and produce marts and gives the food to agencies that feed people in need.
Much Love,
Marjorie Wray
