January 2021 Council Update
Marjorie Wray, RScP, Council Chair
Dear Fellow Congregants,
I have to say I was glad to let go of 2020. On the other hand, I have to admit that I learned a lot in 2020 about Zoom meetings and how to connect while staying at home. It wasn’t what I wanted to do and yet I believe that our “Jewel by the Sea” really stepped up and provided many ways to connect via the internet and phones.
I would like to give a big shout out to our end of year Fund Raising Committee. It was a Christmas themed event with – John Partington, dressed as Santa, Pam Watanabe was dressed as Santa’s Elf, and our own Rev Nicole as the official greeter. They did a great job organizing and facilitating our amazing event. I gave them my gift and then I had an opportunity to write a prayer of my choice and put it into an ornament for the Christmas tree. Then Santa gave me a gift of homemade cookies. I am proud to announce that we raised a little over $5,800.
In December we gave our community tithe to “i Sanctuary”. They provide education and support both locally and internationally to young women and girls escaping human trafficking. We are doing this in honor of Frieda Wright, a practitioner who made her transition 5 years ago and was one of the original supporters of the “I Sanctuary”.
Much Love,
Marjorie
