Being Yourself in a World of Change
Rev. Donna Baranyay
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
– Emerson –
While I believe that each of us may have our own interpretation, I can relate to this quote. It is so easy for me to shift into someone who I may not really be, but think I am supposed to be. Does that make sense? It’s easy for me to think I should feel a certain way, make decisions in a certain manner, or shift some part of me to be more in alignment with someone or something else rather than checking in with me to see if it feels right.
The Divine wants to have Its way with each of us as us. We are all unique expressions of God, with individual gifts, talents, and purposes. What an opportunity it is to discover what those are! Transformation is an inside job. For me, having an active spiritual practice is what keeps me in alignment with who I am, who I want to be, and how I choose to show up in the world. I am excited for what is next for all of us. When we are in alignment with the Higher Idea of who we are, magnificent opportunities and experiences unfold. May you remember the special Light that you are – a Divine Expression of God having a human experience. If you forget this or have trouble seeing it for yourself, please reach out to a practitioner or a minister – we will remind you of the Love that you are, the Light that you are, and the gift you are to our beloved Jewel by the Sea and the world all around us.
